Follow That Map! A First Book of Mapping Skills by Scot Ritchie
Another gem I found that is a few years old (2009) but fits perfectly with skills taught in many grades. Finding a book about maps is a challenge. This one is great for kids in grades 1-4. Each page has a "theme" - compass rose, scale, legends, etc. The characters travel through the book looking for Max, a dog, and Ollie, a cat, that are missing. Using the different maps, the other characters search for the two missing pets. One we will be adding to our shelves!
