Take Your Mama to Work Today by Amy Reichert

Violet's babysitter is sick today so she is headed to work with Mama.  Violet is a BIG (sarcasm) help at Mama's work!  She makes sure everyone know she is there!  She gives pointers to the boss for his presentation.  She helps answer the phone in her own "special" way.  And she is able to make shredding paper very festive!  How does Mama's office survive on days when Violet is not there?  Funny text along with hilarious illustrations makes for a great read aloud for both kids and adults.  (Adults may actually find it more enjoyable.....)

What NOT to Give Your Mom on Mother's Day by Martha Simpson

A little late for Mother's Day BUT when looking for a book NEXT year for Mother's day, here is a top pick.  A great book of advice for kids (and dad's) about shopping for mom....

"Do NOT give her bucket of big fat worms...unless she is a bird"

Mama For Mayor by Jan and Mike Berenstain

Mama is upset about the holes in the road and decides she is going to run for mayor in order to make some much needed changes.  She goes through the whole process:  declaring her intent to run to campaigning to debates to election night.  I am not usually a huge fan of Berenstein Bears however this book is a great book for fall to intoroduce in simple, simple. terms the election process.  K, 1 and possibly 2nd grades.
